Trim and millwork estimates measured by the linear foot.
Finish carpentry and millwork takeoffs: base, casing, crown, and trim by LF, cabinets and countertops, shelving, and architectural woodwork.
Finish carpentry is where a project shows its quality, and where small quantity misses add up fast. We measure base, casing, crown, chair rail, and wainscot by LF from the plans and interior elevations, and count door and window trim sets by opening.
Cabinets, countertops, shelving, stair parts, and architectural millwork are taken off from the elevations and millwork details, so cabinet shops, trim carpenters, and contractors can price both material and installation.

What we quantify
- Base molding (LF)
- Door and window casing (LF / sets)
- Crown and ceiling trim (LF)
- Wainscot and paneling (SF / LF)
- Base and wall cabinets (LF / EA)
- Countertops (SF / LF)
- Closet shelving and rods (LF)
- Stair treads, risers, and railings (EA / LF)
- Architectural casework (LF / EA)
What the estimate accounts for
- Piece lengths and joints: Trim waste depends on stock lengths, corners, and scarf joints, so waste factors are applied by profile and remain adjustable.
- Opening counts: Interior and exterior openings are counted by type so casing sets and stops follow the door and window schedules.
- Install labor drivers: Ceiling heights, curved walls, and built-ins are noted because they change trim labor more than material.
- Finish-ready versus paint-grade: Stain-grade and paint-grade materials are separated where the finish schedule distinguishes them.
Who orders it
- Trim carpenters
- Cabinet and millwork shops
- Home builders and remodelers
- General contractors

Frequently asked questions
Do you take off cabinets from the interior elevations?
Yes. Cabinets are counted by type and width from the elevations and plans, with countertops measured by LF and SF.
How do you handle trim waste?
We measure net LF by profile and apply a waste factor you can review. Runs are not converted to stock lengths unless you request it.
Can you estimate commercial casework?
Yes. Architectural casework and countertops are taken off from the millwork elevations and details and organized by room or type.
