Concrete estimates measured to the cubic yard.
Concrete takeoffs and estimates: footings, walls, slabs, and decks in CY, rebar by weight, formwork by contact area, and finishing by SF.
Concrete cost is driven by more than volume. Forming, reinforcing, placing, finishing, and curing each carry their own quantities and labor. We take off footings, grade beams, walls, piers, slabs on grade, and elevated decks element by element, so you can see where every yard and every pound of steel comes from.
Rebar is quantified by bar size and converted to weight, including laps, hooks, and dowels shown on the details. Formwork is measured by SF of contact area, and slab work is broken out by thickness, vapor retarder, base, finish, and joints.

- Division 03 — Concrete
What we quantify
- Continuous and spread footings (CY)
- Foundation and retaining walls (CY)
- Slabs on grade by thickness (SF / CY)
- Elevated slabs and decks (SF / CY)
- Reinforcing steel by bar size (LB / TON)
- Welded wire reinforcement (SF)
- Formwork contact area (SF)
- Slab finishing and curing (SF)
- Control and construction joints (LF)
- Anchor bolts and embeds (EA)
What the estimate accounts for
- Waste and overpour: Placement waste is applied as a reviewable factor by element type, since footings poured against earth behave differently from formed walls.
- Rebar laps and accessories: Lap splices, hooks, dowels, chairs, and tie wire are accounted for so the weight reflects what the fabricator will actually ship.
- Formwork reuse: Contact area is measured in full, with reuse noted separately so you can price form material against the pour sequence.
- Pumping and placement: Pump, buggy, or direct-chute placement is noted per element so equipment and labor follow the actual access conditions.
- Base and vapor retarder: Aggregate base, vapor retarder, and under-slab insulation are taken off as separate items, not rolled into slab pricing.

Frequently asked questions
Do you calculate rebar by weight?
Yes. We take off rebar by bar size and length from the plans and details, including laps and hooks, and convert to pounds and tons using standard bar weights.
Is formwork included in a concrete takeoff?
Yes. Formwork is measured by SF of contact area for footings, walls, columns, beams, and slab edges, so you can price form material and labor separately.
How long does a concrete takeoff take?
It depends on the size of the project and the complexity of the structural drawings. We confirm the turnaround in your quote.
